GENERAL INFO

  • No previous skiing, biathlon or firearms experience is required
  • Target shooting instruction and a chance to practice shooting provided during rifle safety
  • The races consist of three skiing loops and two shooting bouts
  • Participants shoot in the prone (lying down) position for both shooting bouts
  • Participants do not carry the biathlon rifles; the rifles remain on the range
  • Biathlon rifles, ammunition and shooting rests are all provided
  • Participants must provide their own trail pass
  • Participants have the option of having their times recorded; those who want their times recorded will be provided with a bib

COMPETITIVE CATEGORY INFO

  • Competitive category is for ages 15 and up (as of December 31, 2013)
  • Shooting bouts will be prone then standing
  • There will be an opportunity to zero your rifle from 12:45-1:30
  • You must provide your own rifle
  • You have the choice of carrying your rifle while skiing, or leaving it at the range on a rifle rack

Ateliers d’entraînement au Championnat Canadien 2013

Biathlon Canada organise une variété de conférences pour les entraîneur(e)s au cours de la semaine du Championnat Canadien. Le programme provisoire est indiqué ci-dessous, pour vous aider à planifier vos activités. Les locaux sont toujours à confirmer et ces renseignements seront diffusés tantôt.

Samedi, 16 mars, 2013, 19h00-20h00 : Communauté de pratique : thèmes d’actualité concernant l’Équipe Nationale et partage d’informations avec les entraîneur(e)s en phase de développement.

Chris Lindsay, directeur des programmes de haute performance chez Biathlon Canada, discutera des questions d’actualité dans le biathlon, dans le contexte de notre programme d’Équipe nationale. En tant qu’entraîneurs et entraîneuses, les communications, le partage de l’information et le travail solidaire sont les meilleures voies pour nous améliorer. À ce titre, venez nombreux, avec vos meilleures pratiques, vos questions et vos réponses pour aider les autres entraîneur(e)s.

Lundi, 18 mars, 2013, 17h00-18h30 : cultiver l’indépendance des athlètes en vue de la performance

La docteure Sharleen Hoar, experte en performance mentale chez l’Institut Nationale d’Entraînement et le Centre Canadien Multisport, présentera une conférence sur la performance de l’athlète et la responsabilité. Il s’agit d’un thème complexe, recouvrant les aspects de leadership de la part de l’entraîneur, la motivation chez l’athlète, le «climat» motivationnel, le développement de l’athlète, et le soutien relié au milieu. Un repas léger sera servi à 16h45 et la conférence commencera à 17h00, donc veuillez arriver à temps! Veuillez prendre note que cette conférence se fera dans le même local que la réunion des chefs d’équipe, fixée pour 19h00.

Whistler Olympic Park Loppet

Finish off the nordic skiing season in style with the 5th annual Whistler Olympic Park Loppet … or Woppet! It starts and finishes at the Whistler Olympic Park daylodge wrapping up with a BBQ, party and prizes. Extra tickets to the BBQ will be available for $15 at the registration desk.

The Chariot category is back for its second year, so participants of all ages can ski or ride!

Fees:

  • 7.5km: $25, 15km: $30, 30km: $40
  • Day of race will incur an extra $10 charge
  • CWSC members will be discounted $10
  • Discount trail passes are available for those who do not have a seasons pass when registering online.
